Happy International Women's Day!!

Hi everyone! Happy International Women's Day!! I want to dedicate today's post to all the amazing women out there who make the online crafting community such a wonderful space. Thank you all of you for being there for each other and for sending wonderful and supportive comments to each other. In all the horribleness that is the Internet and the world in general today, I find it encouraging that we can have this community where we focus on supporting each other and sharing our creativity. I fully welcome all and any men into our community as well, don't get me wrong. I'm so happy we have strong male crafty role models too like the amazing Tim Holtz who clearly has done a lot to also introduce men to the crafting world. But I still think it's amazing that at large, we are a community of women who spend time not on criticizing each other or putting each other down but lifting each other up!

So I admit today's card isn't specifically a Women's Day card, it's, in fact, a wedding card. I used the snowy backdrop stamp from snow cool to create the background for the card, stamping the snow at the bottom and top of the card, heat embossing in gold. I then stamped more of the snow on another card, adding the glasses, bubbles and little heart from Happy Wedding and heat embossed everything in gold again. Then I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut the panel, attached it to a doily and finished everything with a die-cut sentiment from STAMPlorations Everyday Sentiments.

I think we should raise a glass in honour of all the wonderful women out in the world, doing their thing whether it be being business leaders, politicians, stay-at-home mums, students, artists or whatever else they feel is their calling in life. I hope you'll join me and send love to as many wonderful women as possible today!

And now I'm off to visit the blogs of wonderful crafty women bloggers out there, and I hope you will do the same!!

I'm playing along with  Lawn Fawnatics - Inspired by a book, movie or a song (Champagne Supernova by Oasis, and how is it that this song is from 1995? how old am I? :) and

Happy Wedding

We are going to our friends' wedding this weekend, and I realised I don't have any wedding cards in my stash. How is it possible that despite having dozens and dozens of cards, there is never a suitable one when you need one? Oh well, that just gave me an excuse to spend some time in the craft room, something I rarely make time for during the week.

To create my card, I used the super cute Lawn Fawn Happy Wedding stamps and Stitched Rectangle dies. I also used some of my gorgeously beautiful hand-made (not by me though!) paper which has a stunningly beautiful texture and a delicate, slightly rose tint (you can't really see the paper in all it's beauty as I just about managed to snap the pictures in what was left of the evening light. I heat embossed everything in gold as this matched the wedding invite. I did some minimal colouring on the cake in the front using a pink Copic, a silver Sharpie and a white gel pen. I also stamped a sentiment inside the card and heat embossed the wedding cake on the envelope.

Cute Bird Wedding Card

I was recently asked by a colleague whether I would be willing to make a wedding card for someone. Would I ever! I think it's always great to get asked to make cards, although people seem to think it's an inconvenience. No, no, no!! It's the only way I can justify my "investments" in my inflated crafty stash. So I got out my Lawn Fawn Happy Wedding stamp set and set off to have some fun!

I started by inking up a piece of hammered white card with three shades of purple Distress Ink and splattered some water onto the background to create a slightly distressed look. I stamped the super cute birds, the cake and glasses of champagne on white card, coloured with Copics and die cut with the matching dies. I also die cut a banner from a scrap of purple card and the sentiment from silver mirri card.

I would like to link up with the following challenges:
