4 Crafty Chicks - Glitter

It's time for my last post as the December Guest Designer at 4 Crafty Chicks. Thank you so much for having me, Dear Chicks, it's been a blast! This week we are challenging you with a Glitter theme.

I decided to create a glittery scene with some super cute Lawn Fawn penguins. I started by inking up white card with pink, purple and blue Distress Inks. Then I die cut the background using the Snowy Backdrop die and the Stitched Rectangle dies. I also die cut the mountains and snowy hillside borders. Then I stamped the adorable penguins and coloured them with Copics. Last, I attached everything to create the scene. I adhered the background onto silver glitter card, and die cut the sentiment to up the glitter factor.

Thank you again to the ladies from 4 Crafty Chicks for the chance to design for you. I'll see you around, and I can't wait to see what challenges you have in store for 2018!

4 Crafty Chicks - Christmas Winter Critters

It's my second week guest designing for 4 Crafty Chicks. This week the theme is Christmas Winter Critters. Hop over to the blog to see what the talented ladies of the DT have created for your inspiration.

I couldn't imagine using anything but Lawn Fawn stamps for a Christmas Winter Critters theme. I used paper from Let's Bokeh in the Snow for the background, then built up a scene using mountains and snowy hills inhabited by some happy Christmas Critters.

Card: 260 gsm white card, Hobbycraft 190 gsm white card, light grey card from my stash
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters in the Snow, Toboggan Together, Hats Off and matching dies
Ink and colouring: Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Dies: Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Borders, Stitched Hillside Borders, Stitched Square Frames
Other: Lawn Fawn Let's Bokeh in the Snow paper

North and South Pole Tags

I've been working on my stash of Christmas cards, but not really on any gift tags yet. So today, I thought I would change that as I was inspired by the cute bear tag over at Tag You're It challenge and the Clever Gift Packaging Challenge over at Lawn Fawnatics (not sure if tags really count as gift packaging or not, but I saw a few other tags in the gallery so I thought why not!). I'm also linking up with the Christmas Gift Tag challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Anything but a card over at Make My Monday.

I started by die cutting the tags in Neenah Solar white card, and inking the sky with Tim Holtz Distress inks, splattering with water mixed with some Perfect Pearls (which gives the sky a nice, subtle shimmer which I wasn't able to capture in the photos). Then I die cut the mountains in kraft card, and the snowy mountaintops, the snowy hillside and the forest border in white card. Last, I stamped the cute critters, colouring them with Copics and die cutting with the matching dies. After assembling the tags, I added some twine for attaching the tags to the gifts. I will stamp a greeting on the reverse of the tags.

Card: Neenah Solar white, kraft card
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters in the Snow and matching dies
Ink and colouring: Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Inks Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Copics
Dies: Lawn Fawn Tag You're It, Forest Border, Stitched Mountain Borders, Stitched Hillside Borders
Other: blue and white twine from my stash

Just Us Girls GDT - Light

I'm super excited to join Just Us Girls as their October Guest Designer. Thank you so much to the JUGS team for the invitation to join. I love playing along with their challenges, and super excited to have the chance to share some inspiration with you all. Hope you will join us for the fun "Light" theme this week.

I thought I would go for a moon and starlight theme for my magical creatures and Distress Inks for the background. I started by cutting out two circular masks, one bigger and one smaller. I inked through the larger circular mask using Squeezed Lemonade distress ink onto my card front in Neenah Solar White card. Then I switched to the smaller circular mask which I centred within the circle I had inked and continued to ink in Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. Next, I masked out the whole big circle and inked in Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire Distress ink, adding more colour around the edges of the card, and keeping the colour lighter the closer to the circle I got. I also inked a piece of card in Hickory Smoke and Black Soot, as well as another in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. Then I splattered water onto all the cards I inked, and I used a wet brush to blend the colours of the moon. Next, I die cut the mountains from the inked grey card using Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Border, the green one using the Grassy Border die, and I used the Forest border die to cut a piece of black card. I also used the Starry Skies die to cut out the stars and shooting star, adding yellow and pink card behind the card front for the yellow starlight to shine through. Last, I stamped the castle, dragon and unicorn from Critters Ever After, coloured them with Copics and die cut the matching dies. Then I attached all the different layers of the background and the critters in the foreground, lastly adding a sentiment from the Party Animal stamp set. I had forgotten how much fun it is to create backgrounds using Distress Inks and to splatter water onto them, watching the ink fade away under the water droplets!

Ink and colouring: Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, Black Soot, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Copics

Inspired By Your Bedding

When I saw this week's challenge over at Shopping Our Stash I knew I had to play along. The theme is Get Inspired By Your Bedding. Let me start by showing a picture of the bedding. And before you judge me, there is a story behind why that pile of ugliness is on our bed...

We don't fight. As in ever. I sometimes fight. And my first fight was about those sheets. I really wasn't sure I could move in with a man who has elephant sheets. But as the Culinary Consultant really loves these sheets, do not ask me why, I just couldn't throw them away, no matter how much I dislike them. So I came to a compromise where we bring out the elephants every second time we change sheets, and every second time I get to pick a more... how should I put this... aesthetically pleasing set of bedding.

Anyhow, I decided to take the challenge and create a card based on sheets. I was inspired by the elephants and the colour scheme. I was also inspired by the triangle shapes which looked like mountains - and gave me a great excuse to use my new Stitched Mountain Border dies. And I'll bet you can guess who will get this card!

I started by stamping the elephants from Critters in the Jungle and coloured them with Copics. Then I used various Lawn Fawn dies to create the scene using coloured card. I think it's definitely nicer than the sheets! I also stamped a sentiment inside the card and added one more oliphant.

I'm also linking up with Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is Flora and Fauna and Time Out where the challenge is to be inspired by the phrase "Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine". I was inspired by the sunshine part.

Card: white 300 gsm card, Neenah Solar white smooth card, scraps of coloured card
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters in the Jungle, Claire's ABCs, Violet's ABCs
Ink and colouring: Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics C3, C5, C7
Dies: Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames dies, Stitched Hillside Borders, Spring Showers, Stitched Mountain Borders, Scripty Congrats
