Just Us Girls GDT - Colour challenge

Saturday means a new Just Us Girls Challenge! I've had super fun Guest Designing for the talented team, and sad that this is already my second to last week with them. And what a super fun colour combo it is. Perfect for Halloween - or anything else that tickles your imagination. I've been enjoying lots of fun with my Lawn Fawn critters lately and this card is no exception. I decided to dig out my Pop-Up Hillside die and create a spooky Halloween Night scene with some poisonous mushrooms and little critters dressed out as witches.

I created the sky by die cutting the Puffy Cloud Borders in scrap paper. First I inked the background card in light purple and then added more purple using the Puffy Cloud Borders as masks, using darker purple and finally black to create a gradient. Then I splattered the whole background with water for an even spookier effect. I die cut the pop-up hills in black card and added some forest border and stitched tree borders die cuts to them. Then I stamped the critters on white card, coloured them with Copics and die cut using the matching dies. 

I can't wait to see what you create with this week's colours.

Just Us Girls GDT - Light

I'm super excited to join Just Us Girls as their October Guest Designer. Thank you so much to the JUGS team for the invitation to join. I love playing along with their challenges, and super excited to have the chance to share some inspiration with you all. Hope you will join us for the fun "Light" theme this week.

I thought I would go for a moon and starlight theme for my magical creatures and Distress Inks for the background. I started by cutting out two circular masks, one bigger and one smaller. I inked through the larger circular mask using Squeezed Lemonade distress ink onto my card front in Neenah Solar White card. Then I switched to the smaller circular mask which I centred within the circle I had inked and continued to ink in Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. Next, I masked out the whole big circle and inked in Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire Distress ink, adding more colour around the edges of the card, and keeping the colour lighter the closer to the circle I got. I also inked a piece of card in Hickory Smoke and Black Soot, as well as another in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. Then I splattered water onto all the cards I inked, and I used a wet brush to blend the colours of the moon. Next, I die cut the mountains from the inked grey card using Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Border, the green one using the Grassy Border die, and I used the Forest border die to cut a piece of black card. I also used the Starry Skies die to cut out the stars and shooting star, adding yellow and pink card behind the card front for the yellow starlight to shine through. Last, I stamped the castle, dragon and unicorn from Critters Ever After, coloured them with Copics and die cut the matching dies. Then I attached all the different layers of the background and the critters in the foreground, lastly adding a sentiment from the Party Animal stamp set. I had forgotten how much fun it is to create backgrounds using Distress Inks and to splatter water onto them, watching the ink fade away under the water droplets!

Hugs from Unicorns on a Cloud

I managed to steal some crafty time this morning, although sadly I have had to devote most of the day to cleaning rather than spending quality time with my stamps. Sometimes you just have to put on the big girls pants and get things done, no matter how much your stamps and dies are calling for you. The good news is that the house is now close to what you would call clean so I have time to type up this post and maybe even to create another card for another day! I felt like in these times of general unhappiness and worry we need a few happy and colourful unicorns on a cloud, they always make me smile and hopefully they will make you smile too!

Today's card was inspired by three challenges: The gorgeous inspiration image over at The Card Concept (I would define my style as Clean and Layered), the sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch and the Fantastic Beasts theme over at Shopping Our Stash. I absolutely adore the inspiration image - I chose to go with the colour scheme of bright pink and orange but also the fluffy white pillows made me think of fluffy white clouds. I'm also linking up with Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is Chill Out - I think these unicorns are definitely chilling out on top of those fluffy clouds.

Unicorn On A Cloud

I haven't been kidnapped and replaced by someone else just because I've already managed to post several cards this week. I have just managed to find a bit more crafty time for a change. I guess I'm feed up with my job at the moment and refuse to put in crazy hours. I'm sure I will have to soon again, but for now I'll just enjoy my craft room while I can. But don't get too excited - I will be away all of next week, so it will be quite around the InvisiblePinkCraftroom. I bet the Culinary Consultant will enjoy a week on his own - I would be willing to bet money on fish and chips for dinner every evening and endless violent movies and computer games until the break of dawn. I in turn get to hang out with family and good friends and hopefully also enjoy the peace and quiet of the summerhouse for a day or two.

So what about today's card? When I saw the adorable unicorn inspiration image over at Curtain Call I had to play along for pretty obvious reasons. And while I'm waiting eagerly for August to receive my new adorable Lawn Fawn unicorn stamp, there is no reason why my first ever Lawn Fawn stamp set can't come out and play in the meantime. I was also inspired by the sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch. I'm also linking up over at Lawnscaping (this is my second entry) where the theme is to use rainbow colours.

I started by die cutting the rainbow using a Lawn Fawn die from watercolour paper. Then I took out my untouched Tim Holtz Distress Crayons (I know, I know... but after being so excited about getting them, I realised I really have no idea what to do with them!) and coloured the various bits, blending with my finger and spritzing with water. Next, I stamped the unicorn, coloured her with Copics and die cut with the matching die. I also die cut a rectangle of patterned paper with a stitched rectangle die for the background, and lots of clouds from vellum and white card. I arranged everything for my scene and last, I cut the sentiment from golden mirri card, stamped the second part of the sentiment in black and added a few gold sequins for good measure. I also added some ice stickles to the edges of a few of the clouds and to the unicorn's horn, unfortunately it doesn't show very well in the image.

Rainbow Party on a Cloud

Two cards in two days! I haven't managed that for a long time. But to be honest, today I used crafting as a procrastination tool - plenty of windows downstairs needing a wash, not to mention skirting boards needing a good wiping. I have also spent the morning procrastinating in another way - my long awaited Fitbit finally arrived last night (first I was annoyed at Amazon for taking so long to ship it, but when they finally shipped it, it actually arrived the same day so I that turned me back into a happy customer). And boy is it fun! I have been spending time setting it up, linking it up with my food tracker and other fun stuff. I had some trouble setting it up initially, throwing my toys out of the pram, but now that it's all up and running it's really addictive. Now I'm just waiting for this wretched cold to pass so I can start accumulating exercise as well. I don't believe you actually need toys like this to get in shape but for me being very resisting to any efforts of eating healthier or doing exercise I'm hoping it will be the boost to get me a bit fitter in a fun way. Also, I can't wait to see how many flights of stairs I climb per day as my office is on the fifth floor, and I usually always take the stairs, going in an out of the office multiple times a day because of meetings. I know, my life is very boring when things like this get me all excited.

Anyhow, on to the more interesting stuff. Today's card is inspired by a bunch of challenges. First off, I wanted to play along with the current Lawnscaping challenge where the theme is Sparkle It Up. I was also inspired by the great sketch over at RetroSketches. I'm also playing along with Daring Cardmakers where the theme is Paint the Rainbow and with the big 2 year Birthday Bash over at AAA Cards, happy second birthday AAA, here's to many more!!

I started my card by die cutting the various elements - the clouds, the frame and the rainbow. Then I stamped the cute unicorn and Dragon from Critters Ever After as well as some party paraphernalia from Party Animal and coloured with Copics in the same colour scheme as the rainbow. Then it was a great big puzzle to play with the various elements to create the scene. Last, I die cut the sentiment from the same glitter paper as the rainbow and adhered everything onto white card.

Rainbows, clouds and dragons

While you read this I'm back home in Finland enjoying Easter with my family, far far away from my craft room. Unfortunately I managed to catch a terrible cold just before I was leaving. Fortunately my family is choc-a-block with doctors of the medical kind (not a "namby-pamby" PhD doctor like me, as my medical doctor sister likes to remind me!) so I was pumped full of drugs (of the legal kind) and the flight wasn't too uncomfortable despite blocked sinuses and lots of mucus. I think I have now gotten over the worst of it and feel much better. I have been busy stocking up on Finnish chocolate to take back home (it's the best chocolate in the world, forget about Belgian or Swiss, Finnish milk chocolate is simply the best) as well as a whole new stash of Moomin towels.

I made this card a while ago but haven't gotten around to post it until now. It's created almost exclusively using things from my leftover stash box. Last summer I created rainbow coloured backgrounds using the smooshing technique with Tim Holtz Distress Paints,  the journalling card in the background is one I created back then and it's been hanging around in my leftover box ever since. I also put together the rainbow from leftover die cuts, and the sentiment was found in the same leftover box, I have no recollection of when I created them. Last but not least, the dragon from Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After has also been coloured and die cut very lovingly at some point but then abandoned in the leftover box. So all I had to do to create this card was to die cut the clouds from a scrap of vellum, put all the pieces together and add a dash of stickles to the rainbow. It feels so good to give the leftover bits a home and created something lovely at the same time.

Happy Birthday to Baby

I hope you have all had a relaxing Christmas so far with lots of time with the people - and/or four-legged friends - you live the most, some good food and maybe a nice present or two. We spent Christmas Eve with my sister as she had a day off from work. Then we got up really early on Christmas Day and drove down to see the Culinary Consultant's extended family in the most amazing old countryside manor house. Now we are back home and I'm cooking our traditional buffalo roast dinner for five tonight.

I made this card a few days ago, but haven't really had time to blog about it so here we go. I created some masks by die cutting using the Lawn Fawn Fluffy Cloud dies and sponged Distress inks. The dragon is coloured by Copics, and the background paper is Lawn Fawn.

Happy birthday over the rainbow

I made myself extremely proud the other day as I managed to change the light bulb on my car light. Without any help whatsoever from the Culinary Consultant. I was so proud of myself I skipped back into the house from the driveway. It may be a bit silly, but cars are such a mystery to me even small things make me feel very accomplished.

I have felt a bit less accomplished in the craft room this week as last night was the first time all week I had some time to craft. I just received the Lawn Fawn Rainbow die, so of course I had to give it a trial run. I thought a little birthday scene above the clouds would be perfect for the current Lawnscaping challenge where the theme is Sparkle and Shine. I would also like to link up with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Furry Friends. I'm not sure if dragons are furry, but unicorns certainly are! I'm also linking up with Time Out Challenges where the theme is Nature with an added twist of animals. Again, I'm sure unicorns and dragons are animals, even if imaginary ones.

Dragon on a cloud

My obsession with the Puffy Cloud dies goes on, and is not showing any signs of going away just yet. This time it was time for the cute little dragon from the Critters Ever After to sit on the clouds. I was inspired by the "Stars and/or stripes" theme over at Lawnscaping. I would also like to link up over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is to use your favourite technique or products. Here I combined my love for watercolours with my love for Lawn Fawn. I'm also linking up with the Animal Friends challenge where the theme is fantasy animals and Ladybug crafts where the theme is "Use your dies".

I also had my very own little Lawn Fawns visit my garden this morning. The Culinary Consultant spotted the smaller of the deer having a little snack by the field out behind our garden, and then she decided to come and munch a bit on our lawn, and soon a friend appeared as well. It was great fun to watch the little critters, but I do wish I had a proper telezoom lens to capture these moments with.

Castle on a cloud

I really love the new Puffy Cloud dies from Lawn Fawn. It's always so much fun to use new crafty goodies for the first time. There are so many great scenes to create with them, and I knew I had to start with my favourite ever stamp set - Critters Ever After. I have been doing quite a bit of watercolouring lately, so much that I'm almost out of watercolour paper. 

The card was inspired by the gorgeous inspiration image over at Daring Cardmakers. I was inspired by the rainbow colours, the white decorations on the butterflies and by the butterflies themselves as well. I have created the card in the "Simple and Layerd" style. I was also inspired by the Time Out challenge where the challenge is to be inspired by the phrase "Happy is the bride that the sun shines on". My inspiration was the word happy, as a unicorn on a cloud must be the happiest thing in the world. I was also inspired by "sun shines" as the sun is always shining above the clouds. I'm also linking up at Shopping our Stash where the theme is Cute Critter Alert.

I created a watercolour rainbow background using Tim Holtz distress markers and a water brush. I bushed off some colour from the markers onto a clear block, and then used a watercolour brush to create the background. I then spritzed the background with a Perfect Pearl mist for a bit of subtle glitter. I stamped the castle, unicorn and butterflies using Staz-on and coloured using Distress markers in the same way I did for the background. I die cut the castle and unicorn using the matching dies, and fussy cut the butterflies. Then I die cut the clouds and last stamped the sentiment from Scripty Sayings. I just love how many scenes you can create with the gorgeous Lawn Fawn products.

Quick thank you cards

I can't believe I hardly spent any time in the craft room this weekend. Actually that's a lie, in fact today I have spent quite a bit of time in the craft room, but not crafting. I finally decided it's time to try and overhaul my crafty storage as it was all a mess. So off we went to Ikea for a storage solution. I also ordered some stuff online that will hopefully help me organise some things a bit more efficiently and also in a way that looks a bit nicer. I'm also hoping to buy a new desk some day, but it didn't quite fit the budget this time so it will have to wait until another day. I'm hoping that once my craft room is a bit more organised I will rediscover my crafting mojo. I have been so frustrated by my huge piles of cardstock and DSP which are tucked away in a cupboard and so hard to get to as they are all just in a huge pile. Now they are stored in a more sensible way so that I can browse them more easily and hopefully be inspired to use them. I can't wait to get it all finished and show you.

I did try to get some crafting done on Saturday but I couldn't produce anything worth showing so instead I'm showing you a bunch of thank you cards I made a while ago when I sold some stuff on Ebay and I wanted to include a personal thank you note when I sent off the things. All the images are from my "junk" box, things I have coloured but didn't get around to using. So it was a really quick thing to just adhere the cute critters to my cards and stamp a simple sentiment.

Narwhal at sunset

After doing the art journal thing I kind of stayed in a watercolour frame of mind. And what could be better than the fact that the challenge over at Lawnscaping is Watercolour. I took my Tim Holtz distress inks out and together with the sketch over at STAMPlorations it turned out to be a sunset over the ocean. And as I only have one Lawnfawn stamp with an ocean dwelling creature, it was time for the narwhal to come out. I think he is really enjoying the sunset. I added some Perfect Pearls to the sky, which gives it a lovely shimmer, although it doesn't show very well on the photos. Last I stamped the sentiment from Critters Ever After along with a few stars, and heat embossed everything in silver, in line with the Let's Get Sentimental challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Happy Amphibian Birthday

How is it possible that the weather is always totally sucky on weekends? Yesterday was beautiful, warm and sunny. Today it's pouring with rain, with the wind howling and grey skies. Blargh! But at least that means there is no option of gardening and I'm "stuck" in my craft room. And with all my recent Lawn Fawn goodies, I'm not complaining too much! I ordered the Scripty Sayings stamp set ages ago, but as it was sold out I had to wait forever and forever. So as soon as it landed on my desk, I just had to have a play. 

I just love this set, the sentiments are so beautiful. So I thought they deserve to be the star of the card, with just a little guest starring role from the adorable froggy from Critters Ever after and of course some gorgeous paper from Let's polka. I keep going through this paper, should have just ordered multiple packs to start with. The tiny hearts are my favourite pattern (obviously!!).

I already linked up once with the current Lawnscaping challenge here, but thought I could do better so this is my second card for the Dimension challenge. And this one indeed has layer upon layer! Which reminds me, I need to order more 3D foam pads. Can you order bulk from somewhere? I seem to go through them in no time... Confessions of a foam dot-aholic. Dragon graduation

It's been such a glorious day today, hasn't it! And it seems like my cold is getting a bit better, although I did stay up half the night coughing. Hopefully tonight will be better. I got home from work with some daylight still leat and headed out in the garden with my red devil and took a few pictures of asparagus. Yes I know, I need a life. Only a few more days and those babies will be on my plate.

I recently acquired a bunch of new Lawn Fawn goodies, but they managed to remain untouched for at least three days which again is a clear indication that I haven't been quite a 100%. I needed some good inspiration to get going, and there it was, a great sketch from My Favourite Things. I also liked the colours over at ColourQ and all of this put together with my new Hats Off stamps resulted in this simple little graduation card. It will be graduation season sooner than you know, let me tell you! I would also like to link up over at Lawnscaping where the challenge is to add dimension. I have popped up the sentiment and the cute little graduation cap with dimensionals. Last but not least I'm also linking up at Addicted to Stamps where the theme this week is CAS.

The Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After is one of my favourite stamp sets, if not the favourite stamp set ever. It's the first Lawn Fawn set I bough and really sparked my love for their gorgeous stamps and handy matching dies. If I had the money, I would buy every single stamp set they have ever released. 

This card was first and foremost inspired by the lovely video by Nichol on the Lawn Fawn blog about the watercolour look. I have been planning to try it out for quite a while already, but this video finally gave me the kick to actually do it. I was also inspired by the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays which this week is watercolour. The layout of this card was based on the great sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch and several of the great DT cards that used Washi tape to create the background. Finally a good chance to use up my Washi tape, yay!! I am also linking up with the current Lawnscaping challenge (number 99!!!), where the theme is Clean and Simple. Can't wait what they come up with to celebrate the 100th challenge soon... I'm also linking up at Clear It Out where Anything Goes.

I started by cutting out the journaling card form watercolour paper, and stamped the images in Antique Linen. I then painted the image using a watercolour brush and ink from the markers that I scribbled onto my craft mat. For the sentiment I used a scrap of leftover cardstock that I created for another card using Tim Holtz distress paints, stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed in gold. Last, I created the background using some craft card and Washi tape.

White unicorn in a snow storm

It's been a hectic few days, with too much work, sitting stuck in traffic and too little time in the good ol' crafting room. But last night I was left alone all night as the Culinary Consultant was out galavanting with his colleagues, so I thought I would make the most of the time and spent some quality time with my stamps and inks. I really wanted to play along with this week's Lawnscaping challenge where the theme is White on White. I thought this was the perfect challenge to combine with this week's Colour Me...! challenge where the colours are white and grey. I also absolutely loved the new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

I used a star die to cut the window in the card, and adhered vellum to the reverse side. I stamped the unicorn in grey, and cut it with the matching die. I stamped snowflakes in Versamark to the background and embossed using a glitter embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment and some more snowflakes in grey and cut in the shape of a banner. I adhered the unicorn onto the vellum and added glitter to the mane and tail. Last I added the sentiment banner using foam pads for dimension. This is one of those rare cards that turned out just like I wanted it. Very white, a bit glittery and a slightly different Christmas card.

Happy New Home

Today I happened upon a new challenge, which I liked the look of. It's called Cure for the Monday Blues (don't we all just need a little bit of that every now and then?). I was inspired by the colours in the rug of the inspiration photo. I really wanted a DSP with those colours but I didn't have any. So in the end I decided I will just make my own DSP by drawing lines freehand using markers. I like the look of the slightly wonky lines. I was also inspired by the feel of "home" of the inspiration picture, so that's why I decided to make a new home card. I used the lovely layout over at Sweet Sunday Challenge. I'm also linking up at Just us Girls where Anything Goes this week.

Unicorn rainbow

This week the inspiration picture over at Just Add Ink is wonderful, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to play along. You can see the image below. I've seen the biscuits on the right hand side of the picture before, and they were called Unicorn Poop. So of course I had to make a Unicorn themed card.

I love the texture of watercolour paper, I think it makes such a pretty background for a card. I used Tim Holtz distress markers and an AquaFlo brush for the rainbow, and then sprayed with Perfect Pearls mist, although it doesn't show very well in the picture. I coloured a few pearls using Sharpies to match the rainbow colour scheme.
